Two Analogies About The Rev12 Sign

There have been a couple analogies bouncing around in my head for a while and I want to get them out for you guys to ponder.  My hope is that both of them COMFORT you.  The first one is for those of you looking back and second guessing your approach to September 23rd.  The second one is for those of us still looking forward and the process God is using to reveal His plans to us.  If you missed my earlier "painting analogy" you can read that here.

Analogy #1

Elementary School Evacuation

Imagine that there is a suspicious black duffle bag partially hidden behind a trash bin in a elementary school.  A few people walk past it and don't even notice it.  Another person walks by, glances at the bag but is too consumed with other things to bother thinking about it.  Finally an observant teacher notices the bag and recognizes the potential situation and immediately acts.  The teacher does not panic, but first cautiously examines the bag.  He sees a few wires sticking out and hears some ticking inside.  He cannot fully open the bag to see a timer, but clearly has seen enough evidence showing that this is a serious and urgent situation.   He immediately warns the others around him and sprints to the administration office to inform the principal of the situation.

The observant teacher shares the info but surprisingly the principal dismisses the teacher and ignores the warning.  The principal flippantly waves him off, warns him against making a commotion and doesn't even bother to examine the evidence closely.  Perplexed, the observant teacher decides to move forward evacuating the school on his own as he can't risk the lives of the precious souls around him...  What he saw with his own eyes was just too real to ignore.

It is the standard policy of the principal to evacuate even if a threat is simply phoned in... so it makes no sense that now with physical evidence that the powers that be are ignoring the situation. Thankfully others see the duffle bag as well.  They notice the wires and hear the ticking for themselves and draw the same conclusion.  They join in the effort and begin making progress.  While they are doing this a few other teachers begin shouting... "Don't worry about it... It's probably just a joke.  Just remain in class per the principal's wishes."  But the group of observant teachers press on doing their best to get everyone to safety.  They saw the evidence for themselves up close and were not persuaded by flimsy arguments to the contrary.  In their mind it would be completely irresponsible and dangerous to tell others to ignore the situation when the stakes were so high and the evidence was so real.  They didn't know everything, but they had seen enough to know it was serious so they did their best to warn others and save as many as they could in the process.

In the end an explosion did not happen that day.  Nobody lost their lives and some of the observant teachers were reprimanded for their disruption. The question about whether the bag was real remains unresolved for many...  But for those who saw it closely the evidence was quite clear. Each one did what they felt called to do even though most will never appreciate their actions that day.

My Thoughts on Analogy #1:
Most schools will evacuate even if a threat is called in by laughing teenagers.  Per policy, it would be irresponsible to ignore such a threat even with minimal evidence.  When they see visual evidence most schools would act even more urgently.   It matters not if there is an eventual explosion... there is too much to lose by taking the situation lightly and not fully investigating.  If during an investigation more solid evidence is found the urgency increases for as long as it takes to give the all clear...  While some think 9/23 proved the evidence was false, I do not see it that way one bit. The evidence for the Rev12 Sign is real, this site is overloaded with information proving that for anyone willing to look.  This was not a cry wolf scenario.... all of you who warned others about the Rev12 Sign were the responsible ones.  We recognized a sign and acted responsibly.  The vast majority of us did not say "The rapture will surely happen on 9/23" or set any dates like we are so often accused of.  We said there is a sign on that day and it would make good sense to take precautions and study it.  The connection to the rapture is legitimate, compelling and has been established for centuries.  Why in the world would we dismiss the date of the sign beforehand?  We warned others and shared the Gospel and prayed like never before. It would have been irresponsible to do nothing and God used all of this to fulfill His plan.  Despite what others say, they did not look at it closely and the evidence is far from nonsense.  We could not see how much time was left on the proverbial timer so we did what an observant teacher should do... we noticed something important and warned others just as God has commanded us to do.  I hope we will all continue to do the same from now until He comes. (1 Thes 5:4, Rev 3:3)
But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.
1 Thes 5:4-5

Analogy #2

The Multi-Wrapped Present

There was a good father looking to give his son an awesome present which he has been promising to him for a long time.  He knows his son will love it, in fact, this child has asked for it over an over again ever since he first heard his father promise it to him.  When the time came to give the present to the child the good father wanted to teach his son one final lesson about patience and perseverance.  The father also thought that the magnitude of this present deserved some special wrapping especially since once it's opened life would never be the same for the child.  Surely a simple gift bag with tissue paper would not do.

To accomplish this the father placed the gift inside a small box and wrapped it in gift wrap.  He then placed that gift inside a slightly larger cardboard box and wrapped it again.  He did this a number of times, each time using a bigger and bigger box and more and more wrapping paper. The final product looked great and was quite impressive in size and weight.  The father placed the beautiful gift out in the room for his son to eventually find. When the son discovered it he could not contain himself!  But the father was clear, the son had to wait a number of days until he could open the big box and see what was inside.

While he waited the son told everyone he knew about the amazing gift he had waiting for him.  News about this present spread throughout the town and when the day finally arrived many people came over to the boy's house to watch the him unwrap the present in great anticipation!  The son thanked his father for the gift, looked around at the crowd and eagerly tore off the outer layer of wrapping paper.  Inside was a large cardboard box and he broke through the scotch tape and expectantly looked inside!

Did he find all that he had been hoping for?  Did it meet the expectations of everyone gathered there?

Not exactly... it was another wrapped gift.

While momentarily disappointed, the son gathered his thoughts and started unwrapping the next gift.  He began to realize that his father did a lot of work and this would not be as simple as he once assumed.  Part of his mind began to worry that his father could be playing some cruel joke on him, but then he was comforted by the knowledge that his father is good, extremely loving and would never do such a thing... especially with so many people watching!  So the son steadfastly continued to open each layer knowing full well that he would eventually reach the promised gift buried within.

Some of the bystanders got impatient with the process and left.  Others begin to tease the son unaware of the good character of the father.  The son was undeterred and pressed on knowing that each layer brought him that much closer to having the gift once and for all.  It would make no sense to quit in the middle of this process and his knowledge of his father's character comforted him greatly when a doubt tried to creep in.  In his heart he knew his father was teaching him something and this momentary struggle would be entirely worth it in the end.

Eventually the moment came and the son (somewhat surprised, somewhat relieved) realized he had opened the final box.  He peaked inside and was overjoyed beyond his wildest expectations!  His long journey and days of waiting became a distant memory as he realized his life would never be the same from that point forward.  His father did not let him down and despite the added steps and waiting it was so worth it (and it made the memory that much more special)!  Those who left early missed out on the precious moment and those who teased or mocked felt ashamed.  The son persevered and the father was overjoyed when he saw the permanent smile on his precious child's face.

My Thoughts on Analogy #2:
The son was very excited to open the gift.  He had a good idea about what would be inside, but was unaware of the many steps in the journey his father had placed before him. We are that son, God is the good father.  He has promised us the gift of the rapture.  Some thought that it would be ours the moment the time came to open the present (last weekend).  We did not realize our Father had some final lessons to teach us in the process.  Our knowledge of the character of God comforts us and we press on opening each layer He has prepared for us.   We can be assured that He would not go through all this work to let us down.  Each layer we remove, each lesson we learn, each connection we make brings us one step closer to taking part in the Blessed Hope (Titus 2:13).   It may be difficult to gage exactly how many more wrapped boxes remain until we get to the final gift, but we can tell we are getting close!  It would make no sense to stop unwrapping now.... or in the future, as long as it takes until we get there!  Do not become discouraged at each new layer, keep unwrapping, keep digging and rest assured based on the good character of God that we will surely get there if we do not give up! (Galatians 6:9)
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9

A NOTE FOR COMMENTORS:  The intention of this post is for encouragement and comfort. With that in mind please understand that anything negative will be deleted. All the comments on this site should be filled with encouragement, comfort, love and grace. Even if you don't agree with those of us whole believe in the legitimacy of this sign, please allow us space to fellowship together in peace without interjecting your contrary views and harsh words.

For the rest of you, I cannot wait to hear what you think of these two analogy's. I hope they bless you and bring you peace like they brought to my heart.  Like you, I am longing that we will be with the Lord very soon! But until He comes keep looking up (and keep unwrapping).  Grace and peace to you all while we wait.  -Brad

  1. WOW!! That was awesome!! like a parable but for today's expectant rapture!!! amen and amen!

  2. That was truly a blessing to read today! The first analogy really hit home when comparing how it's standard policy to take ANY indication seriously! The second one reminded me of how I've both received and wrapped presents in that way, and step by step in your analogy I am reminded of His love for us.

Thank you for your encouragement and perseverance. Please let me know if you need anything!

    1. Thank you Ryan. I need prayers.... Please pray for me and my family.... that we would all be filled with grace, peace and love and continue to do God's will whatever that may be. Working on this site has been an unexpected strain on our home and has taken much more time and effort than anticipated. I have done my best to balance everything, but I am sure they have felt the brunt of it... I pray it is worth it.

While I experienced a moment of let down at first and couldn't fall asleep on the night of the 23rd, the Spirit led me to get up and get into the Word. I was drawn to scriptures that reminded me to keep strong in my faith and I was also reminded of the parable of the virgins where the bridegroom was delayed and the parable of the servant where the master was delayed.

God knew we would need to be reassured that he was meant to seem delayed ( by our timing).

I continue to feel blessed that God chose me as one of the few to see the signs and be anticipating His return in continued excitement.

  5. Analagy #2. My thoughts.
All the boxes were wrapped in different paper with a name attached the cardboard box. The first box wrapping paper had red moons all over it and the name label attached to the box was Mark.
The next box inside had numbers 7 all over it and the name on that box was Jonathan.
The next box was wrapped in paper of star constellations and the name tag on that one was Scottie.
I, however, did not experience momentary disappointed to find another unwrapped present inside. Contrarily, I grew more and more excited with every present that I opened!
The remaining boxes all had unique wrapping paper too! And the names on those presents were JD, Perry, Steve, Jaco, Daniel, oooh little Shaul (pronounced Sha - ool'), Alan, Barry, Adam, Kevin, Chuck, and many others.
Oh, the person that handed me the gift was Hal Lindsey.
I am so grateful for all and still seeking the greatest gift of all, Jesus!

    1. Interesting that you mention Hal Lindsey. Was thinking, maybe before FOT, that the actual 'unsealing' of Dan 12, occurred when Israel took back Jerusulem. It was only a few short years later, that Late Great Planet Earth came out, (by Hal) and that kicked off the whole prophecy / eschatology explosion, that has brought us to where we are today. Back in Hal's day, several years could go by without anything 'prophetic' appearing in the timeline we were all watching. Fast forward to today, and it is like trying to drink from a fire hose, it's coming so fast! See you all up there! Maranantha!!

  6. Excellent! Perfect pair for today. Both are needed, and appreciated! I think there have been many who are more comfortable with the sign once the date-setting stigma faded a little. There is less of a threat to the doctrine of imminence, so the smoke is clearing a bit. There has been much needed "revelation" this week! We were given the time to examine ourselves and pray for the lost and for others that may have displayed a mocking tone. But the peace... oh the peace that is manifest in the hearts of believers... just wow.
See you soon, brothers and sisters!

  8. The question for me has always been whether or not this was the sign that John was describing in Revelation and I think it was. I don't see how anyone can write down something 2000 years ago and then have it come to pass 2000 years later (exactly how they described it) except that they knew what they were writing about at the time. I don't see how anyone can fake that. As the sign was approaching, it's only natural to think that something big would happen in conjunction with it. After all, why mention a sign in Revelation if nothing happens when it appears? Right? But, that's apparently the case this time and we have to figure out what that all means. For me, it means that there's not always a 1:1 correlation between signs appearing in the heavens and big events happening as the sign appears. By the way, isn't that exactly what the scoffers are thinking? Aren't they thinking that if there's no big event that transpires along with the sign then the sign can't possibly be legit. But, like I said, the sign is legit because I don't see how you fake it. So, now I'm looking for the next sign!

  9. Brad, how sweet of you! Thank you for these little analoges, they do really nail it.

My sudden thoughts on #1 are: In the world even some anonymous bomb threat without any evidence will be taken serious. But as soon as it comes to spiritual issues they are immediately debunked. This is simple prove of Ephesians 6:12.

#2 proves the fact that only true and genuine sons of the good father do really appreciate what he is going to give them 1 Peter 1:3 . The precious gift lovingly wrapped in multi-layered paper is not for everyone. Only for genuine family members saved by grace through faith: 1 Peter 1:8

  10. For those who were paying attention to the revelation 12 sign and found themselves all alone among family and friends in the churches did you know that a prophecy was being fulfilled? While many who opposed us did so while excluding us from the conversation they were in reality fulfilling a very worrisome prophecy about themselves.

Isaiah 66:5 5Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

Cast you out nâdâh, naw-daw'; נָדָהor נָדָא nâdâʼ; (2 Kings 17:21), a primitive root; properly, to toss; figuratively, to exclude, i.e. banish, postpone, prohibit:—cast out, drive, put far away
Cast out: VERB to reject, abandon, or eject somebody or something synonyms: throw out · evict · boot out · oust · eject · reject · sack · remove · dispossess · exile · banish · expel · exclude

  15. cool analogies. I thought the Rev12 23 Sept wrapper in analogy 2 would be the brightest of the lot...to be followed by a plain cardboard wrapper...disappointment galore. But then, inside the most insignificant wrapper of all, the final one, we find, the KEYS TO THE KINGDOM, which the father delights to give us. Behind the door of the keys to the kingdom awaits our Lord and Saviour, the one who gives us his Kingdom in all its fullness. Awesome!!!

Brad - I was going to ask if you need financial support, or prayers only (if prayers can ever be 'only'), and how we can provide that support if needed.

Not faulting others who do receive gifts (it is more blessed to give than receive), but for me this has nothing to do with finances and my heart is much more settled by avoiding any and all donations. In my mind this effort was a mission from God and I do believe He has sustained us and will continue to do so. Many thanks to you for the offer and I do appreciate the thought dearly! Prayers are top priority... after that, help with proofreading. ; ) God Bless you, Ryan. Thanks again!

  17. Both analogies....God all the way! God is good and He is an ever present help in the time of need! This confirms what the Lord told me the early morning hours of the "day of" Sep 23rd, knowing that the rapture was not "that" day. Luke 21:19 In your patience, possess your souls. Here's my translation. "Michael, while you are waiting and expecting me to come get you today, don't lose heart, don't faint, don't get discouraged, don't lose faith, keep praying, keep witnessing, keep occupying, keep smiling, keep singing, keep worshipping, etc, etc...we all know the moral of the story.

  23. Brad,
The wise Virgins had "extra oil", but the Foolish Virgins did not. This is the time of the "extra oil"; When things may not seem as bright and clear as they once did. It's time for the faith that stays the course, and is the difference in those who "believe in" God, and those who "believe" God. Soon, the Foolish Virgins will return, asking to purchase part of what the Wise Virgins have. However, the hour is getting late, and soon there won't be enough oil to spare.
My brother, you are one of those, chosen by God to supply extra oil (insight) that helps us stay the course. (Wisdom = insight). I am truly thankful for you and all the brothers and sisters that have put a huge part of their own lives on hold, to do the will of God. I bless you, and pray for you in the name of Jesus, whom I serve.

  32. Beautiful analogies, Brad!:)

Her a song I wrote some months ago. Hopefully it's encouraging for you:)

At the sound of the shofar

    At the sound of shofars
    Heavenly warriors prepare for war
The Lord of hosts will take the lead
His face like a burning sun
    The Victor Who defeated death
Steps of His throne, claims His rightful rule
    Everyone, prepare for war!

    When the shofar piercing sounds
The darkness trembles and shrieks in fear
He who was death, but lives and reigns
Once a baby, now conquering King
From His mouth comes a double-edged sword
The winepress of Gods fury He threads
Now darkness, where is your might?

Thank You, my Lord, God Almighty!
You who are, who were and are to come!
You took your amazing might in hand
    For all eternity You’re King!

With sounding shofars He will come
On His white horse He’s faithful and true
He is the living Word of God
His garment is dyed in blood
He is King of kings, Lord of lords
Righteous He’ll judge and make war
    Hosanna, come Lord Jesus!

    That shofar claims the victory
It spells out defeat for satan’s hosts
He will come to judge all nations
He gathers his wheat in His barn
And burns the chaff with unquenched fire
The Lord Almighty has become King
    Sing with me: “Hallelujah”

Thank You, my Lord, God Almighty!
You who are, who were and are to come!
You took your amazing might in hand
    For all eternity You’re King!

    When that shofar fades away
I’ll enter the banquet with my Lord
My Victor will be in our midst
In joy He’ll rejoice over me
In His love He will be quiet
For eternity we’ll reign with Him
Sing with joy, bride of the Lamb

Colossians 3:2-4

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Philippians 3:20-21

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
