Micah 5 Timeline - This is Huge!

Could the Revelation 12 Sign be the key indicator of when God will shift His focus back to Israel?  Many of us now believe that an Old Testament prophecy could hold the answer to that question...

In Micah 5:2-4 a timeline is formed by 3 consecutive verses which span from before Christ's birth, through the partial hardening of Israel after His death, and into His millennial reign.  Smack dab in the middle of this sweeping passage is a huge clue as to the timing of this.  It potentially identifies the timing of when God will return His focus to Israel and close out the Church Age. The implications of this are huge.  In order to wake-up the Jews, God will unleash a 7 year period of unprecedented disasters on the whole Earth.

For this post I would like to focus on when the current Church Age (otherwise known as The Age of Grace) could come to an end.  I believe that Micah 5 could point to a sign found in Rev 12 that indicates when God will choose to refocus His attention back on Israel (and thus usher in the End Times).  In order to make that case I have created the following timeline, focusing on these three consecutive verses in Micah Chapter 5.

Click to Enlarge, Save and Share Freely

Lets go through these verses in order. Below is Micah 5:2, the first verse in this timeline:
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel whose coming forth is from of old from ancient days.
In this verse you see a prophecy about where Jesus will be born.  This is the same passage King Herod's priest's read to him after the wise men dropped in for a visit after seeing an astronomical sign. Sound familiar?  You can read about this direct reference in Matt 2:4-5 and in Luke 2:4.  Verse 2 also gives more info about Jesus, stating that he will be the ruler in Israel and that he is coming forth from old, from "ancient days".  I believe this is eluding to his eternal nature which can be referenced in Daniel 7:13 and John 1:1.  Furthermore it could even connect to His taking on of human likeness described in Phil 2:6-8.

We now have our first portion of the timeline. It's fairly easy to see that Micah 5:2 is referring to Jesus, specifically during His pre-incarnate state, birth and coming forth onto the scene during the time the of Gospels.

Next let's look at the first part of Micah 5:3...
Therefore he shall give them up...
Who shall give up who, and why?  The context of the previous verses tell us who and pretty much all of scripture tells us the why.  The one coming forth from ancient days (Jesus) shall give up the clans of Judah, otherwise known as the Jewish people.  He gave them up because they didn't accept Him as their Messiah, but instead crucified Him.  Of course, we now know this was all part of Gods grand plan (John 3:16), but they are still responsible for their actions and God put them in a time-out so to speak.  In Romans 11, Paul does an amazing breakdown of why God gave up the Jews for this time period (which has been going on for some 2,000 years now).  Romans 11:25 specifically describes this partial hardening and its purpose.  You know all about it because it was for the very purpose of opening up the plan of salvation to you and me. Fortunately for the Jews, God has promised that this hardening won't last forever. Unfortunately for all other unbelievers, that means the Age of Grace will end at some point too.

Continuing on... This is were it gets really good.  Look at the next part of verse 3:
Therefore he shall give them up... until the time when she who is in labor has given birth;
For many centuries I am sure people have pondered that phrase. When you think about it, it does seem like an awfully general indicator for such and important event.  According to Google there are 360,000 births each day on this planet.  Multiple that by 2000 years and you can see the problem. But now with the Revelation 12 breakthroughs things might be starting to make some sense.  Maybe this woman in labor who is giving birth in Micah 5:3 is related to the woman in labor who is giving birth in Revelation 12:2?  Could it be?  The possibility is certainly intriguing.   I just wish some of the "professional debunkers" who are calling us all astrologers and telling everyone to ignore this amazing information would put some actual thought into the subject!

Lets keep moving, now looking at the remainder of verse 3:
then the rest of his brothers shall return to the people of Israel.
This is when the partial hardening ends.  This is when the time-out is over. You can read about it in Romans 11:26 and in Jeremiah 31:33-34, among other places.  Notice the word "then".  Above was the word "until".  These are indicators of time.  Wait until this thing happens, then this other thing will happen.  For example: In my house it might go like this: "Until you pick up your toys, then you can have some ice cream."  Those words indicate that something must take place in order for the next thing to happen.  In Micah 5:3 many of us now interpret this to mean that the sign of the woman in labor (Micah 5:3 / Rev 12:1-2) must happen in order for the next dispensation to take place.  The sign is the indicator, the Jews won't be "un-hardened" until after this sign. His brothers will return.  What causes them to soften their hearts toward Jesus?  You guessed it...  The Tribulation.  And if that is true, it could mean exciting times directly ahead for us Christians who are eagerly longing for Our Lord's appearing (2 Tim 4:8).  To be specific, it could potentially mean that the rapture of the church is at hand.  We won't know if we are right until it happens, but it sure seems like a reasonable idea that it could happen sometime around the Revelation 12 Sign which is taking place this September especially in light of what we are learning here. Whether it is on the exact day of the sign, or weeks or months after it (or better yet, before it), I do not know.  But even if we don't know the day, and even if we don't know the hour, I think it is reasonable to be very excited about the possibilities surrounding this upcoming season!

Ok, lets wrap this up by quickly talking about the last verse in the timeline, Micah 5:4.
And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth.
This is pretty straight forward and clearly talking about the Millennium and beyond. Jesus will stand and be the shepherd to His flock (all those who believe in Him whether Jew or Gentile).  His strength and majesty will be evident. We will dwell secure and His name will be great across the entire earth. What a glorious time it will be!  Christ will come down to earth to take his place as ruler in Israel just like what was mentioned in passing up in Micah 5:2.  The secure dwelling is talked about in Rev 22:3 and Isaiah 32:18 and sounds wonderful. I am hoping and praying that every one of you guys and gals reading this will be there with me... adoring and praising our hero, Jesus Christ. I cannot wait for that day!

In summary many prominent scholars already know that Micah 5:3 is a key biblical indicator pointing to the End Times.  Until now, most didn't know what the woman in labor sign would consist of.  Case in point: Read what John MacArthur has to say in the notes section of my personal Bible... Notice at the bottom how he even references us back to a certain special chapter that has gotten a lot of attention lately!
I sincerely hope this study has encouraged you.  Micah 5 has been referenced by those studying the Rev12 Sign, but I was waiting for someone to do an in-depth break down of it because I think it is so cool.  Instead of waiting around for someone else to do it, I finally felt called to take a stab at it myself.  This post has been a labor of love because ever since I first studied these passages a few short years ago I have considered Micah 5:2-4 to be an absolute key piece of the Rev12 puzzle. I hope this little break-down gets shared and many people who are much more qualified than I can dig into this further, with more skill (and probably better spelling).  I really hope they do because as the title of this post suggests... This. Is. Huge.

  4. Oh Brad, thank you for this wonderful work, praise our LORD for sharing these thoughts with us! Much blessings be to you! :-)

Some additional scripture to the "rest of his brothers" might also be found in the story of Joseph who doesn't reveal himself to his brethren until having tested them before (Genesis chp. 42-45). The "secure dwelling" reminds me of Israels situation described in Ezechiel 38,11.14 therefore I don't place this war into any of near future period but rather to the end of the Millennium (see Revelation 20,3). The battle of Armageddon is described in Ezechiel 39 so there are two different situations with slightly different protagonists. Personally and from current state of knowledge, I do believe in some 7 year "cleansing period" of the land of Israel as described before the millennium starts. Possibly this will be parallel to the time of the judgement of the Living in Matthew 25,41-46 because Jesus Christ will then deal (on earth) with all physically surviving persons at the end of the great tribulation. But I'm not dogmatic about it. Much love, regards!

  11. More proof of 2017 rapture, end of the age, or ?

The last time this astronomical configuration came close to resembling the Revelation 12 sign was in 3914 BC from what I've read and according to Stellarium astronomy software (Stellarium.org)

If we go back 3914 BC years and add the 2017 AD years, it equals only 5931 years which means we're about 69 years short if we thought that 3914 BC was the date of creation.

However, what if the 3914 BC date/sign was not signifying the date of creation but more importantly the fall of Adam that necessitated God's plan of salvation?

While the bible is silent on when Adam and Eve sinned in order to calculate the full 6000 years, the Book of Jubilees gives us some indication and maintains that Eve was aged between 64 and 70 years when she gave birth to Cain, her first child which I think is reasonable to assume may have occured right after they sinned and were kicked out of the Garden of Eden.

I find it extremely interesting that the 69 years we're missing falls within the 64 and 70 years of age that the Book of Jubilees seems to imply was the age of Adam and Eve when they sinned which would then make 2017 the 6000th year (or very close to it).

The references to Eve's age are in the 3rd and 4th chapter of the Book of jubilees and remember when you see the word weeks, it means shmitas or a week of years.

  14. Consider, "Who is Jesus' brother?" Mark 3:35 states that "whoever does the will of God is My brother and sister and mother.” So then, the return of the rest of His brothers in Micah 5:3 could be connected to the return of the saints* with Jesus in Revelation 19:14. This would place Micah 5:3 at the end of the time of Jacob's Trouble.

(*Some might argue the the armies of heaven are angels, not saints. However, the armies of heaven are described as being dressed in white linen. Revelation 19:8 states white linen is given to the saints to indicate righteous acts. Therefore, it is my belief the "armies of heaven" refer to saints, not angels.)

    3. Great work, Brad. And in response to the comment above from Anonymous: While most of us agree that we (the Church) are coming back with Jesus among the armies of Rev. 19:14, the "return" spoken of in Micah 5:3 is amplified in the book of Revelation as the Tribulation judgments that bring the remnant of literal, ethnic Israelites back into the fold (Rev. 7:1-8; c.f. Matt. 25:40).

Also, Hosea 5:15 (possibly Dan. 9:26, "Messiah will be cut off...") would be a nice addition to add to your article, Brad. Great job with everything. Graphics are excellent!

    4. @ Brad: As I mentioned, the "brethren" reminds me of Joseph (see as well Genesis 50,15-21). Seems logical to me. The same John 7,5 Jesus' brethren didnt believe before resurrection but afterwards. Me too I do refer the "brethren" rather to literal Israel remnant who will then be a blessing to all people again in the peace kingdom.

"But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest the same year, said to them, 'You know nothing at all, nor do you consider that it is profitable for you that one man should die for the people, and the whole nation should not perish.' Now he did not say this from himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was about to die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but also that children of God, those having been scattered, He might gather together into one."

  18. GOOD insight..... I had always interpreted these verses as referring to His first coming, Mary giving birth, with the "giving them up" referring to the "400 years" of "silence" between the OT and NT, and the "rest of his brothers" referring to the gospel being taken to the Gentiles. The only thing that wouldn't quite fit in that understanding is verse 4. Now I'm wondering if that's yet another double fulfillment.... your explanation makes a lot of sense.

It caused quite a stur on Signs and Seasons on Facebook when I posted it. What caught my interest is "They that sanctify themselves and purify themselves (argument on Signs and Seasons on Facebook) which to me means Christians trying to sanctify themselves and purify themselves behind a tree while at the same time eating pork, shrimp and doing other abominations which God calls abominations.

    3. Also the Christians do not understand the Word Lord which is the Aleph-Tav (Head of the Cross) and YHVH (Behold the Hands, reveal the nails) who is Jesus who said the quote in the first place. So why would Jesus in Matt and Paul and Peter go against what Jesus said in Isaiah 66? All 3 are Jews and Paul was a pharisee among pharisees.

    1. Thanks James! Many people have studied this but I just tried to pull it together in a easy to understand way.

    2. I'd like to add in on this great conversation brothers.

See my comments below. The child explains everything.

  31. I think the sudden destruction comes about this time as 1Th 5:2  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1Th 5:3  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. Woman in birth fits the Rev sign.

  32. From what I see in Scripture I believe that the Church must go through the opening of the first six Seals before the Rapture.
When the sixth Seal is opened, the 144,000 Jews are sealed, THEN the multitude of the saved appears in Heaven.
The Church is not appointed to wrath (1 Thess 5:9).
The Wrath of God comes with the opening of the Seventh Seal.

If it's so that the Church must endure the first six Seals, then we have some mighty hard times to go through. At the fourth Seal (Death), 1/4 of earth's population must die.

    1. If the rapture is 9/29-23, then the fourth seal can not be the Christians. Nor can it be Africa only because Rev 6 says 1/4 of "the earth" will die.

  33. Hi

Thank you for the post. I was wondering if you can shed any light on Revelations 12:3-4. If the first "great sign" was physically in heaven(space), will the "second sign" also be in space? And what will it be?

    Thanks, Dee

  34. Not only is this correct in linking Micah 5 and the woman in travail, it is correct this child is Christ.

Rev12 is about the second coming of Christ. A child born before a dragon.

I posted this elsewhere but I'll bring it into this conversation.

This is the same child, as the one barely hinted at in Micah 5 and totally revealed by Rev 12.

    The Root of Jesse
…5 Righteousness will be the belt around His hips, and faithfulness the sash around His waist.
    6 The wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the goat;
the calf and young lion and fatling will be together, and a little child will lead them.

This little child, like the inactive user above suggested, is the child with the nations upon his shoulders.

This child represents the second coming of Christ.
He is the same child, born to the woman in travail that Jesus spoke of in regards to his return.

He is also the same child as the one in revelations, a chapter strictly about the second coming.

He is the child born before the dragon waiting to devour him.
This dragon represents temptation.* Think about this.

When Jesus spoke of his return he gave us signs that would occur shortly before his revealing as the son of man.

One of these was the abomination causing desolation standing in the place that it ought not.

It is a verse strongly related to the one about the son of destruction. A man doomed to destruction.

A figure seated in the temple of God, proclaiming to be God.
This figure can also be labelled as the "false prophet" from revelations

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 King James Version (KJV)

2 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no one deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness (the son of destruction) is revealed.

4 He will oppose and exalt himself above every so-called god or object of worship.
So he will seat himself in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.*

(THIS verse is identical to the one about the Abomination causing desolation standing in the holy place)

5 Do you not remember that I told you these things while I was still with you?

6 And you know what is now restraining him, so that he may be revealed at the proper time.…

7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way.…

    also translated as

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. ****

  35. Now what I want to explain here, is that all the above, is truly about the CHILD BORN BEFORE THE DRAGON.
its about Christ himself falling away and being revealed to the nations in the process.

This is how he ends up with the nations and the government upon his shoulders

Standing in the holy place and being seated in the temple proclaiming to be God are both about the body of Christ.
The body of the child born before the dragon.

This is why its Michael who must wage war with the dragon, and its also why this verse exists

"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. ****"

Its this child that has let inequity, work. It is the "dragon part" of this childs life that must be taken out of the way.
Therefore it is Christ who letteth, because its Christ who must take him out of the way.
Michael IS Christ & The seventh angel with the Mystery of God.

The dragon, is exactly like the false prophet, who are also akin to the "Assyrian in my land" from Isaiah 14.25

24 The LORD of Hosts has sworn: “Surely, as I have planned, so will it be; as I have purposed, so will it stand.
25 I will break Assyria in My land; I will trample him on My mountain. His yoke will be taken off My people, and his burden removed from their shoulders.
26 This is the plan devised for the whole earth, and this is the hand stretched out over all the nations

ALL of it about removing inequity.

also extremely related to this verse

    "The King Who Exalts Himself
36 Then the king will do as he pleases and will exalt and magnify himself above every god, and he will speak monstrous things against the God of gods.
He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been decreed must be accomplished.
37 He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers, nor for the one desired by women, nor for any other god,
because he will magnify himself above them all.…"

    aslo relevant to this verse
"A Psalm of David. How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me? 2How long must I wrestle in my soul, with sorrow in my heart each day?
How long will my enemy dominate me? 3 Consider me and respond, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death,…"

  40. an ugly truth most of you must be thinking, but this is the entire meaning behind WORMWOOD, and why it is a bitter time, the exact same time Michael is said to stand up...

and perfectly explains why both the star or angel falling from heaven, coincide with the revealing of the son of man and the falling away.. and a war in "heaven" between Michael and a dragon

  41. The Woman and the Dragon

12 And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed in the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.

This appearance in "heaven" is the potential birth of Christ into the world.
The woman is not merely Israel, not at all really, but it is the effort of the eschatological event itself

The appearance of "her" in "heaven" coincides with this verse and event

John 51 Then He declared, “Truly, truly, I tell you, you will see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

Colossians 3:2-4

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Philippians 3:20-21

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
