A Cosmic Encounter...

So we are now very near an interesting watch period... a close conjunction of Venus and Jupiter which provides amazing imagery of Christ uniting with His church. We wrote about this earlier which you can see here. This conjunction also mirrors a similar event which occurred at His first coming between these same two planets.  Believe it or not, that conjunction was much closer than this one as the planets were perfectly together, indistinguishable from each other.

Below is a graphic I put together to compare 3 notable conjunctions.  The first is in 2 BC at the time of Christ's birth also known as the original "Star of Bethlehem".  That was an unbelievable sight I am sure and likely the brightest "star" they ever saw.  The second one is the one occurring this year.  There will be a bit of a gap, and not as bright as back then, but it will catch the eye of anyone who see's it that's for sure.  The 3rd is from 2015... many of us saw this one in person as this was also a high watch time and much was made of this conjunction back then.

While it is not as spectacular as at Christ's birth, this conjunction is still very very close and has been getting some attention in the press. It is surely a unique event and the fact that it occurs 50 days after the Rev12 Sign is impossible to ignore.   Here are some examples from a few articles.

Venus 'Snuggles' Close to Jupiter in Epic Conjunction Early Monday

Facebook is even highlighting the conjunction... calling it a "Cosmic Encounter" and a "unique moment of wonder".
As I showed above, and as you may have seen in Stellarium, these planets will be close, but I don't think it will look like a single star as some of the articles suggest.  I plan to get up early and check it out though!

Daniel Matson has been on top of all this as well as the simultaneous ramping up of events in the Middle East which all seem very prophetic.  I suggest you follow his very active Facebook page if you haven't already to stay up to date.  Here is a link to his most recent post:

Closing Thoughts
We shall see what happens in the coming days, but I find it very hard to believe this is a vast set of cosmic coincidences.  No, we know that God has a plan and purpose for all He does and this is no different.  He has brought us to this point for a reason so keep looking up and draw ever closer to Him just as the planets above show us to do.
If you haven't read it yet, I encourage you to check out the following article which dives deeper into this amazing event and it's possible significance:

A Fitting Finale? The Venus/Jupiter Conjunction Connection

Comments

  1. When I pull up Stellarium and set it to Jerusalem, it looks exactly the same as it did in 2 BC. If I set it to the US, it is different. However, since focus is switching to Israel, I believe the one from Jerusalem is the one we should be looking to.

  2. I was wondering what kind of impression is all this speculation is making on the unsaved, and stumbled across this "Christian News Satire" webpage:

    http://babylonbee.com/news/18-reasons-rapture-will-2018/

It's all scoffing, of course, but a few of the points, I thought, struck uncomfortably close to home. For example, and I quote from that site:

4.) 2018 breaks down to the formula 2 x 0 – 1 + 8 = 7, the number of the Lord. Wow! This is powerful evidence that 2018 is the year the great tribulation will kick off.

9.) Well, whaddya know. The laptop we’re typing this up on just hit 18% battery life. Coincidence? I think not. Make sure to pay attention to seemingly random numbers throughout your day, and you too can become a biblical numerology expert.

14.) The voices in my head told me so. We’ve all been having these crazy dreams where a voice whispers, “Jesus is coming back in 2018” very clearly to us. The voice sounds a little bit like Christopher Walken. Preeeeeeetty sure that’s indisputable proof of a 2018 rapture date.

15.) We bought Chick-fil-A for lunch recently and the total was $20.18. Can you say “sign from God?” Because we sure can!

It's sad, I think, that the world is so full of scoffers. But it's also sad that so many believers are acting in ways that are so easy for scoffers to caricature. Here are a couple of examples:

    1. Just yesterday this site published a long and rambling letter purportedly dictated to some woman by Jesus Christ Himself!

    2. In another thread on this site it says, "This conjunction takes place 50 days after the Revelation 12 Sign. Obviously we know that the Holy Spirit came to the disciples 50 days after Christ's crucified. 5 is also the number of grace. 50 days would be a fitting "grace period" after the sign to close out the age of grace." Unfortunately, the author didn't explain the connection between (and thus the unwarranted leap from) 5 to 50.

    3. That same thread, in the very next sentence, went on to assert: "This conjunction also takes place 777 days since the last Blood Moon of the Tetrad in 2015. 7 is the number of perfect completion. If the Blood Moons were a warning of the end to come, 777 days would be a fitting and merciful period to show the perfect completion of the warning period which was ushered in by the Blood Moons. (Joel 2:31)" Whoa, I say. First we've got 50 as a "fitting grace period" (based on the idea that "5 is the number of grace" while ignoring the fact that 5 and 50 are not at all the same number), and now we've got 777 as a "fitting and merciful period" (with no explanation regarding why we switched from a multiple of 5 and 10 to a multiple of 7 and 111).

I'm not a scoffer, myself, as you should all know from the songs I've written and recorded...

    http://godlychristianmusic.com/music/play2.aspx?id=3027&type=song.mp3

...but I'm afraid I can see, quite clearly, where these scoffing comedians gather their material.

    1. DJ this 'numerology' thing is certainly not for everybody. God IS a God of NUMBERS and always puts a meaning behind but we won't gonna play with it like with some baby rattle. For some reason, just Hebrew and Greek are the only two bible languages whose letters are to be transferred to numeric values. Unbelievers scoff because they don't understand anything about it 1 Corinthians 2:14 and mix it up with some mystic Kabbalah and believers don't get the fact that Gods numbers ALWAYS have to deal with Israel - and not with some Pope's birthday, Obama inauguration anniversary or some license plates date. Some things about it are funny indeed and I have experienced it myself with 9/23 recently but I don't take it too serious really. Thats why I cannot watch most of brother Steve Sewells videos when he gets into his "Gematria reckoning" hobby horse. Only if numbers refer to ISRAEL it gets interesting and scripturally important. As I guess our departure lies at hand shortly there will not be too much time left to dig into that deeper now as this really takes time. So I can only pray for the day to come when eternity begins and Jesus Christ Himself will explain everything perfectly to us John 16:23 a). Blessings to you! :)

    2. Good observations, DJ. Thanks.

This movement has fallen into placing great importance on such things as numbers, dreams, dates, messages, feelings, and (on other sites) non-canonical writings. It has provided great fodder for the scoffers. I am going back to the Bible alone. I believe all we need is there.

For example, instead of all this stuff, how about we spend some time in the last few chapters of Daniel? That seems to be loaded. Or the minor prophets.

    3. Let the scoffers scoff, they’re fulfilling prophesy. As for the watcher community in general, we’re human beings with sinful nature, we could be wrong and mess up things at times. I like it that we’re sharing and discussing ideas and having fellowship as well, encouraging each other while we’re watching and waiting for the Lord’s return.

      Delete
    4. Andrea, completely agreed! In fact you don't need numbers at all to keep God talking to ANY of His children the way they do understand. But that's another issue, that's personal talk. Again, many mix things up by not "rightly dividing" and then are more confused as before. But that doesn't mean the bible doesn't provide with real meat for 'experts' to chew on - not depending on their intellect but on their position and task in the body of Christ! It's not about mans intellect here, its about glorification of God. Every nugget they dig is revelation through the Spirit and not by their own intellect. 1 Corinthians 2:6-7 much love and blessings to you! :)

    5. Yes, it is such a blessing to have a like minded community to seek our Blessed Hope with, sharing our thoughts and revelations regarding our love and longing for our Lord and Savior. Why some feel the need to shut that down, I do not know. What I do know is Yeshua will not find fault with us for watching as closely as we possibly can for Him. And that is totally Scripture based. For those who want no part of this watch, why do you busy yourselves with watching the watchers? Hmmm...
Blessings to my eagle-eyed Sisters and Brothers and thanks for every encouragement as we have seen the day approaching!

    6. Shelia B asks, "For those who want no part of this watch..."

DJ answers, You must be talking about someone other than me, because I've been watching and waiting since 1982, as my oft-posted songs attest. I come here to see if there are any recent events, or any new insights regarding the Scriptures or the times, that I might have missed.

Sheila B continues, "...why do you busy yourselves with watching the watchers? Hmmm..."

DJ replies, Good question. I "watch the watchers" because I'm a pastor/teacher and when I happen to come across something that is harmful to the sheep, I feel it's my duty to speak up, 1 Peter 5:2. For example, somebody needs to let our little lamb Andrea know that it's highly unlikely that God is speaking to her through "...many, many numbers. Mostly on license plates." That's nonsense. And her sisters here ought to tell her so. Annabel took a shot at it, above, but I really think it needs to be said more plainly. And that's what my posts here hopefully do. Proverbs 27:17. A little verbal swordplay is a good thing, my friends, and alternative views ought to be either disproved or adopted, not squelched.

    7. One detail to keep front-of-mind in any critique is the venue of the discussion. While we are always mindful of the evangelistic space, especially in these days, it is not the purpose here. This space was established specifically to be a bit of a free-for-all where sincere Watchers could share and learn together (Eccl 4:12) the Word and the Work of the Spirit amongst us now in the context of the Great Wonder. That we do so openly, in The Light (1Jn 1:7) , is a hallmark of our Witness, regardless of its attraction to scoffers and the uninformed (Mk 4:9, Mk 8:18, Matt 13:9). Love you guys and gals, Maranatha!

    1. Annabel, that was an awesome read and glad I got time for it as well. Thank you so much! I needed that refresher to get re-centered.
I guess I let that other topic and some of the comments rattle my cage a bit. It wasn't the woman's letter so much as I've seen that format many times over the years both written and spoken orally in a Church setting. While I never found a valid reaction to it in my spiritual understanding, I just had to leave it up to the Lord to sort out. What bothered me so much was that it did seem to give rise to an odd kind of division and therein lies the detriment of of trying to speak for the Lord rather than of Him. I actually felt a sort of sifting going on there. Thankfully there were some well balanced words trying to be given
      by some.
We are way to close to be getting sidetracked now. Much love to the Body as we walk on these pins and needles! Maranatha!

    2. The article concludes with several failed predictions, including this one:

"We think our final sign is going to be Planet X being revealed and it's the very last thing prophetically to occur before the rapture (Luke 21:26-27). When this becomes a global issue and if around November 2, this should be our sign that November 12/13 is an accurate date for the rapture."

Well, Planet X wasn't revealed on November 2nd, nor did it become a global issue. So it seems a November 12/13 Rapture is now out of the running. And the credibility of those authors has just dropped precipitously.

How many times do "professional watchers" have to be demonstrably wrong before we wise up, set aside our wishful thinking, and return to things we know for sure? That article was written just a few days ago and it's already out of date. Now consider the words of this 35-year-old song that is as current as the day I wrote it, and ask yourselves what kind of things we should be setting our affections on (2 Corinthians 4:18, Philippians 4:8):

      ---

      I BELIEVE

I believe in God, the Father, Creator of all things. (Genesis 1:1)
And I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son. (John 1:1-5)
And I believe in the Spirit, and the gifts the Spirit brings. (1 Corinthians 12:4,8-10)
And I believe that all three Persons are but One. (Mark 12:29)

I believe the virgin Mary was the mother of my King; (Luke 1:26-35)
That He is truly man, and truly God's own Son. (Hebrews 4:15)
And I believe, under Pilate, He was crucified for me; (Mark 15:15)
And that He died, and rose the third day, and will come. (Luke 23:46; 24:6-7; Acts 1:11)

And so I look for His appearing up on high! (1 Thessalonians 5:15-18)
And I believe a crown awaits me, if He comes, or if I die - (2 Timothy 4:8)
      For I have loved my Lord's appearing;
I have loved my Lord's appearing in the sky.

I believe all men are sinners and cannot save themselves; (Romans 3:23)
That we are saved by grace, and ransomed at a cost. (Ephesians 2:8; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
And I believe that God so loved us that He gave His only Son. (John 3:16))
And I believe that all who don't believe are lost. (John 3:18)

I believe the words of Scripture, and God's words, are the same. (2 Timothy 3:16)
And I believe that in their hearing we are fed. (Luke 4:4)
And I believe prayer can change things, prayed in faith and Jesus' name. (John 14:12-14; James 1:6)
And I believe that faith without faith's works is dead. (James 2:26)

And so I look for His appearing up on high! (1 Thessalonians 5:15-18)
And I believe a crown awaits me, if He comes, or if I die - (2 Timothy 4:8)
      For I have loved my Lord's appearing;
I have loved my Lord's appearing in the sky.

    3. Hi DJ -

There are a lot of opinions, thoughts and ideas out there about signs in the heavens. Some of them are valid. Some are not. But, I don't want any one source telling me what to believe and what not to believe about them. I want to hear and read everything I can from many sources. That's what I like about this open forum! Then, using the Scriptures, the critical thinking skills the Lord gave me, and direction from Holy Spirit, I can discern for myself, tossing aside those ideas that I believe are not on track, and holding on to the precious nuggets of truth. We all should be doing that as we sharpen each other.

As far as I can remember, our brother that hosts this website (and the others sites that most of us frequent) has never used the phrase "the Lord hath said" when posting outside articles or even their own thoughts. If they did, my guess is that it would be the readership of this site dropping precipitously!

So, I want to hear, read and discern! I usually learn something - - even from those I may not agree with. In fact, I sometimes learn even more from them. I'd like to continue reading and hearing from everyone. And I'll continue to search with others here to uncover hidden truths from the Word of God regarding the upcoming most important single event in Christian history since the Resurrection! That's what we're supposed to be doing...right? Looking is not passive, but active. And IMHO, we should be VERY active. Not one single person has all the right answers. But with a team of dedicated watchers seeking for answers, and working diligently to "search out a matter", just look at the progress of understanding that has been brought to us! A big "thank you" to all of you!

So, I encourage the host of this site and all of those that post their comments, to not give up. Keep thinking. And digging. Keep on asking for wisdom. Wait on the Lord for answers, but don't grow weary! WE ARE SO CLOSE! Continue sharing your thoughts with each other. Please don't retreat back into a shell of complacency now. Sure, some postulations have not panned out, but we can't give up! Keep pressing forward because our reward is so near!

DJ - I read your posts. I read the lyrics of your songs. You certainly have a gift! I've listened to your music. I love it! Don't stop sharing it. But let's not discourage others from seeking what we're all looking for....our Blessed Hope!

Thanks.... and blessings all you fellow readers!

    4. DJ maybe you could try 'revelation research ministries' tho they are short videos with only words. But, these viewpoints are so very, very different. I just started to watch them today and thought of you because of your above comment on Nov 12/13 coming and going ... There is a video on the rapture not happening at least until 1-20 of 2018, I think. You surly don't have to agree with it.
I think DJ that it is like you are trying to force this blog into a position it wasn't made to do ... as if you are trying to put a puzzle piece in a spot it wasn't made to fit no matter how hard you try and the edges of the puzzle artwork/paper become frayed at times.
Maybe it is time to accept this.
I wouldn't mind any comments from others on this 'revelationresearchministries' site. I was trying to find a video that Barry Scarborough had referenced today.
      Thanks, Cathi

Cathi, I have watched a few of those RRM videos and I really did enjoy one called "Truth be told..." about calendar research. On the other ones, I'm wasn't sure if their research was evolving or they just changed their minds about a Rapture time frame. Blessings!

DJ Replies, I did. I looked them up on YouTube and immediately spotted these two video titles:

"The Rapture can't occur until on or after January 20 2018"
"The Truth Be Told...70th Week Starts on November 3rd, 2017"

Sounds contradictory to me, since I believe in a pre-tribulation Rapture. And I find it hard to fathom that we're more than a week into Daniel's 70th week already.

  6. Hello, Dennis Cates!

I'm glad you liked my songs.

i agree with you when you say, "As far as I can remember, our brother that hosts this website (and the others sites that most of us frequent) has never used the phrase "the Lord hath said" when posting outside articles or even their own thoughts."

I also agree with you when you say, "I want to hear, read and discern! I usually learn something - - even from those I may not agree with. In fact, I sometimes learn even more from them. I'd like to continue reading and hearing from everyone."

But we must also consider others besides ourselves: both unbelievers who might wander in for a look-see, and believing babes who are not yet ready, all by themselves, to "test all things, holding fast [only] the good" (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

It seems to me that the some of the articles and many of the comments here are grossly misleading. They make the community look like a superstitious, gullible and thin-skinned clique to whom the Lord speaks via "a few dreams, a vision or two, and many, many numbers. Mostly on license plates." (That's a direct quote, by the way.) My problem is that such ridiculous assertions generally go unchallenged by the more mature participants here. Surely, with a little effort, we can provide a brighter light to the unsaved and a safer, more nurturing environment for Jesus' little lambs.

What would be most helpful, I think, would be an article (or series of articles) that outline how one can reliably distinguish coincidences from meaningful events. The wide variety of successful and failed predictions published over the past couple of years would provide plenty of data and and broad spectrum of examples for the author. (I'd be glad to write the article, if Brad would agree to publish it.) This article, for example...

    http://www.unsealed.org/2017/06/19-reasons-rapture-could-be-in-2017.html

...does a good job of showing where Edgar Whisenant went wrong with his "88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988" booklet. Unfortunately, the author then makes many of the same mistakes in the closing section.

In short, Dennis, I think we could all present a better witness to both the saved and the unsaved if we were more constructively critical of our assertions and much less inclined to superstition and wishful thinking.

  7. I was just looking at "live" photos of the conjunction from other parts of the world on Twitter. Not very impressive, and not at all like the "Star of Bethlehem" -- no "wise man" would ever mistake those two, clearly separate lights for a single star. But then Brad's graphic at the top of this thread prepared us for this discrepancy when he posted this thread. So what's the big deal? The two conjunctions are significantly different from one another, and now they've both come and gone over Jerusalem.

  8. DJ, I really don't think you were kidding at all about feeling jaded. I pray it gets better for you real soon. Even the smallest stand alone star is something to be totally awed by when you think of how He has it numbered and named Ps.147:4.
And how amazing it is that modern technology allows one to see so much of His heavenly handiwork in action on any given day in our history, going backwards or forwards.
