We Are Not In Darkness...

As we approach the Winter Solstice and the darkest days of the year (for those of us non New Zealanders anyway) I was led back to one of my personal favorite scriptures.  It just so happens to talk about darkness...and the fact that we are not in it with regard to the general timing and nature of the Lords return. Here are a few segments that are from one of the most influential portion of scripture in my own personal walk:
But you, brothers, are not in the darkness so that this day should overtake you like a thief.... So then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain awake and sober.....For God has not appointed us to suffer wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ..... Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing. Colossians 3:2-4

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Philippians 3:20-21

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
